INFORMATION ON THE WINERY    DIEZ-CABALLERO is a family winery located in ELCIEGO that we inherited from our grandparents. Following the formula of traditional Bordeaux châteaux — relatively rare in Rioja— our wines come exclusively from estate-owned vineyards planted with
TEMPRANILLO. Strict pruning and respectful growing practices achieve a perfect blend of the traditional and the modern at the service of fruit and full expression — ROOTS, SOIL and FAMILY.    Technical Specifications VINTAGE: 2005 VARIETAL(S): 100% Tempranillo ORIGIN: Rioja Alavesa (DOCa Rioja)   TEMPRANILLO grapes from our old vineyards in Elciego. A harvest which was selected to extract the fullest EXPRESSION. It stayed in new casks for 19 months, with 3 rackings and a further 5 months in a new casks from which it was bottled directly.   Tasting Notes:  The 2005 Reserva is a large-scaled Rioja in the style of the vintage. Aromas of spice box, tobacco, lavender, black cherry, and blackberry lead to a structured wine that will evolve for another 3-4 years. On the palate it displays an elegant personality, excellent volume, and precision focus.
