Characteristics Baynos

Mariano García, a legend of Spanish winemaking, is one of the great contributors to the prestige achieved by the wines of Castilla y León. Founder of the Mauro winery, he has managed to position wines without a D.O. on the market at the same level of the greatest wines of the Ribera del Duero. But he has gone even further than that and been brave enough to make wines in other regions like Toro, Bierzo and Rioja. In the latter denomination, in the D.O.Ca. Rioja, he set out making a spectacular red wine with his two sons in Baños de Ebro. A wine worthy of this King Midas of the wine world who turns every grape he touches into gold.

Baynos is a red wine made from old Tempranillo vines and a small amount of Graciano planted in plots in Baños de Ebro, in Rioja Alavesa, where the soils are poor and rich in clay. These vines are aged between 40 and 100 years old and grown organically, using biodynamic practices and animal traction. In the winery, a traditional vinification process is followed, selecting and destemming the grapes and, without crushing, they are left to ferment with native yeasts in cement tanks. The wine is then aged for 20 months in French oak barrels before being bottled.

With three members of a family forming an unbeatable team, Mariano García and sons have created Baynos, a red wine from the D.O.Ca. Rioja that showcases the identity of a unique terroir. A powerful and elegant jewel from La Rioja that draws you in at the first sip.
